tuxedo

Young men at Tuxedo Park, a rich New York resort, shocked society in 1886 by wearing short dinner jackets instead of tailcoats. The jacket took the resort's name, which probably comes from a Munsee Lenape word; Europe called it a 'smoking', but Japan and Korea took the American name.
