sushi

Sushi is the old Japanese word for 'sour': fish was once packed in fermenting rice, and only in Edo did vinegared rice and fresh fish become fast food. Japanese emigrants took it to Korea and Brazil, Los Angeles sushi bars launched it in America, and from there it reached Russia, Israel, the Arab world and nearly everywhere else.
