safari
Arabic safar 'journey' went east into Persian, Hindi and Turkish and south along the caravan routes of East Africa into Swahili, where safari became the word for an expedition; English took it from Swahili, German colonists and Hollywood spread it around the world, and it even came back to Arabic as safārī.
