rook
The chess castle has nothing to do with the crow called a rook: its name is Persian rukh, a piece whose original meaning is uncertain, passed on through Arabic and Medieval Latin. Most languages renamed the piece 'tower', but the old word survives in castling: Spanish enroque, French roquer, German Rochade.
