rickshaw
The jinrikisha, 'human-power vehicle', was invented in Tokyo around 1869; China and Korea read its name in their own way, while English cut it down to rickshaw, the name that spread to Hindi, Bengali and Urdu, to Indian English's auto-rickshaw, and to German, Italian and Russian.
