magazine
Makhāzin means 'storehouses'. It became Italian magazzino, French magasin, Spanish almacén and Russian magazin, a shop, and in Morocco the makhzen became the name of the state itself; English used magazine for a store of ammunition and, in 1731, for a printed 'storehouse' of reading that French then borrowed back.
