War, law & rule

horde

Old Turkic ordu was a ruler's camp; through the Golden Horde it entered Russian as orda, and Polish, German and French passed it west with an added h- and the sense of a wild swarm. The name of the Urdu language, the Turkish word for army, and Kazakhstan's presidential Akorda all come from the same word.
