camphor
Camphor's name started in South or Southeast Asia (Sanskrit karpūra, Malay kapur 'chalk, lime'); Arabic kāfūr, already in the Qurʾan, carried it to Persian, Turkish and Swahili and to medieval Europe's apothecaries, and Medieval Latin camphora brought it to English in the 14th century and to German, Dutch and Russian.
