Beelzebub

The Philistine god of Ekron appears in 2 Kings as Baʿal Zəḇûḇ, 'lord of flies' — quite possibly a scornful twist on Baʿal Zəḇûl, 'Lord Prince', a title known from Ugarit — and became a name for a prince of devils, from Dante's Belzebù and Milton's Beelzebub to French Belzébuth, Spanish Belcebú and Russian Vel'zevul.
