Armageddon

Revelation names the site of the last battle 'Harmagedon', most likely 'the mountain of Megiddo', an ancient battlefield; since 1811 English has used it for any cataclysmic final conflict, and through Bibles, preachers and Hollywood the word now means doomsday in Russian, Japanese, Hebrew and Arabic.
