A round trip: Latin praecoquum 'the early-ripening one' went into Greek, Greek passed it to Arabic as al-barqūq, and Arabic Spain sent it back into Catalan, Spanish and Italian; French abricot gave Dutch abrikoos, which lent German and Russian their words, and English reshaped it twice before settling on apricot.
