amok
Malay amuk named a desperate, frenzied attack; Portuguese chroniclers in the East Indies wrote it down as amouco, and English 'running amuck' grew out of their accounts. Dutch took it straight from the Indies, and German Amok, through Zweig's novella, became the word for a rampage.
